Captions alone aren’t enough.

Streaming content online is often inaccessible for those in the Deaf community who can't read or can’t read fast enough for closed captioning. SignUp understood this problem and saw the way to solve it.

A new level of access.

Our work was to bring SignUp’s vision to life: we built a browser extension that overlays streaming services with a resizable window showing sign language interpretation.

All synced-up.

Viewers can fast-forward, rewind, play, pause, or close out and then come back and pick up where they left off, and the player will follow suit. (And yep, it’ll take any pesky ads into account as well!)

Multi-language support.

SignUp didn’t want their extension to be limited to just folks in the U.S., so we adapted it work across multiple countries and in multiple languages.

Filtering. Favoriting. Settings.

After seeing how people used the extension, we added new features to make their experience better.

Inclusive design.

Given SignUp's mission, ensuring that their site and browser extension met WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines was a must. We also went above and beyond WCAG and integrated with Signly, a synchronous reader that offers access to web content in sign language.

Playful vibes.

Rounded buttons. Bright high-contrast colors. An inviting, wide font.

A new standard.

SignUp is making waves by making a new level of accessibility the standard. We’re grateful for the opportunity to help them bring beloved movies and TV shows to the Deaf community.
